Wardrobe Wins: Lexie’s Sustainable Gameday Style

Lexie’s Gameday Problem

‘Twas the week before the Bama game, and Lexie couldn’t decide on a gameday outfit. Last weekend, she had pulled out all the stops, and now she had nothing that even resembled orange in her closet to wear to the biggest game of the year. Swamped with a heavy course load this semester and tons of homework, Lexie had no time to hit the thrift stores before the weekend. But she wouldn’t wear the same outfit twice…

The Solution

While weighing her options and considering her tight budget, Lexie’s roommate introduced her to a solution. She told Lexie about a new app that had just been launched, specific to The University of Tennessee campus that could not only help her find a gameday ensemble for cheap, but also help her make some money.

Lexie immediately grabbed her phone to download the Campus Wardrobe Exchange (CWE) app. She had no time to waste. She discovered quickly that it was no average secondhand clothing app, but a student driven marketplace made up of members of her very own community. Excited to get involved, Lexie started snapping photos of clothes in her closet that she liked, but didn’t reach for often. Within just two days she had rented out a dress for a sorority formal and sold a couple going out tops.

A New Outlook

Lexie had earned enough money to buy something new to wear to the Tennessee v. Alabama game, but her curiosity about sustainable fashion had grown. Instead of cashing out and heading to the mall, Lexie browsed the Campus Wardrobe Exchange, this time, to rent her own gameday fit. She was eager to express her personal style in a new, exciting way, knowing that she could save money and turn around and sell it again after she was done. After some browsing and a quick and easy campus meetup, she was ready for gameday

Why CWE?

For college students like Lexie, Campus Wardrobe Exchange is a game changer. CWE allows students to do what they are already doing – buying and selling clothing – in a way that allows them to save and even earn money. CWE is more than just a side hustle, though, its mission is to get college students excited about sustainability. Before using CWE, Lexie might have just rush ordered a few cheap options from a fast fashion website. The ones that didn’t work, she would have donated to thrift stores, doomed to eventually end up in landfills. Why? Because these items are not made to last. Now, Lexie and the younger generation has begun to care about the environmental impacts of their shopping habits. Using Campus Wardrobe Exchange, students can extend their clothing’s lifetime by passing it along to someone else who will appreciate it.

By downloading Campus Wardrobe Exchange, university students will learn that they don’t have to sacrifice fashion for sustainability or spend an arm and a leg to build the perfect outfit. CWE allows students like Lexie to keep their wardrobes fresh, earn some extra cash, and do their part in reducing their environmental footprint.
